Lucy Whitaker
Director
Lucy Whitaker is a distinguished driving offence solicitor in Nottingham and the founder of Pragma Law, established in 2014. She earned a 2:1 law degree in 2005 and qualified as a solicitor in 2009, dedicating her expertise to driving offences after several years at another firm. With a robust background in both prosecution and defence, Lucy possesses exceptional technical acumen and a thorough understanding of driving offence law.
She has effectively represented clients in a multitude of magistrates court cases and has rectified prior court decisions based on erroneous advice from other solicitors. Lucy also defends clients facing serious charges in the Crown Court, including fatalities, and in 2024 secured a significant acquittal for a charge of causing death by dangerous driving in partnership with barrister Andrew Thompson.
Her achievements include successfully contesting decisions in the Court of Appeal, and she maintains a commendable success rate by providing transparent advice and upholding integrity, meticulously evaluating each case to identify suitable defences while advising a guilty plea when it is in the client’s best interests.
Apart from spending time with her family, her hobbies include crafting and skateboarding.

David Swingler

David Swingler qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the fields of crime and motoring law. He has continuously dedicated himself to defending a wide array of cases throughout his career. His background includes several years serving as an agent prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, which has provided him with invaluable insights into the prosecution process in court settings.
David has skillfully conducted numerous types of hearings, establishing himself as a formidable advocate. His particular area of expertise lies in police station representation and trial advocacy, where his comprehensive understanding of both sides of the legal spectrum allows him to deliver exceptional support to his clients when they need it most.
Clients have commended him for his down-to-earth approach and his ability to achieve fantastic results. David has achieved numerous acquittals at trials and has superb skills when it comes to cross-examining witnesses and leading the courts to the truth.
In his spare time, he enjoys cycling and socialising.
